Nicotine: My Perspective


The Morning Boost



There’s nothing quite like starting the day with a combination of nicotine and caffeine. This “breakfast of champions” is popular among many entrepreneurs and professionals, who use it to tackle their responsibilities efficiently without relying on more dangerous stimulants like Adderall.


Clearing Up Misconceptions


Some people misunderstand my promotion of nicotine. They often think that because nicotine is a component of tobacco smoke, endorsing its benefits is equivalent to advocating smoking. Let me be clear: smoking isn’t the only way to consume nicotine.


Nicotine Delivery Methods


Nicotine can be ingested through various means:


  • Vapes, cigarettes, and cigars

  • Patches and gum

  • Pills and even injections


Once absorbed, nicotine enters the bloodstream and reaches the brain within minutes.


Impact on the Brain


Nicotine primarily interacts with the brain by binding to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs), which stimulates the release of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine. This stimulation impacts mood, cognition, and behavior. Nicotine’s influence on the brain’s reward pathway enhances motivation and alertness but can also create a sense of dependence due to its effect on dopamine.


Pros and Cons


Pros:


  • Increases metabolism and suppresses appetite


  • Boosts motivation and cognitive function


  • Potentially offers protective benefits against Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases


Cons:


  • Risk of dependence due to overstimulation and desensitization of the brain’s reward system


  • Potential for increased risk of mouth and lung cancers with smoking or vaping


My Thoughts on Vaping


I believe vaping is problematic. Despite being marketed as a healthier alternative to smoking, the lack of transparency about what’s in vape products is concerning. The chemicals in vape liquids, which produce flavors like “Black Ice,” can be harmful. Though vaping is relatively new and long-term studies are still pending, it’s clear that it introduces various harmful substances into the lungs.


My Preferred Methods


While smoking is undeniably harmful, I believe nicotine, in moderation, can positively impact daily life. My preferred methods are nicotine gum and cigars. Nicotine gum is convenient, helps keep breath fresh, and allows for easy dosage control. I find the 2 mg gum to be effective for enhancing cognitive focus throughout the day.


How Nicotine Has Benefited Me


Though I was never a heavy smoker, I’ve experienced notable benefits from nicotine:


  • Training: Nicotine increases my metabolism and reduces appetite, helping me maintain a toned physique and adhere to my diet. It supports prolonged fasting and keeps me focused.


  • Productivity: Nicotine sharpens my mental state, boosting motivation and concentration.


  • Information Recall: It smooths my thought process and enhances my ability to connect ideas, making me more articulate and engaged in conversations.
